God has his hand in all of this. Every homeschool day starts out pretty much the same, with a prayer to the most high. He comes along side us, throughout our whole day weaving it together. Even after all these years, I am still awestruck when I see how, from one academic subject to another, it all points back to the creator.
While preparing our Veterans day cards we listened to Lee Greenwood’s God bless American, Toby Keith’s American soldier and of course, Ballad of the green berets! I talked to the girls about ways we could thank a veteran. Stand up straight, look them in the eyes, extend your hand and give them a firm shake and say “Thank you for your service.”
I talked with them about how, at just 17 years old, their daddy signed up to be in the United States Army. Serving for over 30 years. Others, so many others we’ve known to do the same thing throughout all branches of our military. I explained the difference between Veterans day and memorial day to which my daughter said, “although one honors the living and the other honors the memory of those that died, they were All willing to die.”
All of this tied right into our Bible lesson for the day. As I was reading Genesis 22:1-18 I just started to cry. My girls are used to this, they waited patiently for me to finish 😂
Then God said. Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom, you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.
God saw Abraham's heart. He saw that he feared God more than he feared the situation at hand, and even as he took the knife in his hand to slay his son, Abraham spoke authority over the situation, over the fear, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”
This reminds me of the willing hearts our veterans have for this country of ours. Inside each and every one of them. Here I am, send me! It all points back to Jesus who died on the cross. The ultimate sacrifice. He taught us the true meaning.
He loves you friend, won't you come serve in his army?
Happy Veterans day to all who served. May God bless you all.
Thank you Randy ❤ Thank you daddy
